BE KIND TO YOURSELF, BELOVED CHILD OF GOD

Peace, unity, belonging, and wholeness are universal desires. I have found in my life that external challenges often stem from unresolved internal conflicts. Through my art, I want to communicate the message that change as a whole begins from within. I love the Serenity Prayer often said in 12 step groups, "God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference."
In my painting, the internal conflict is symbolized as a house in flames, a young woman's hand quenching flames while nurturing flowers bloom in the other hand.
To me, it echoes the verse in Isaiah 61:3 describing "beauty for ashes". I hope viewers are prompted to reflect on their own internal landscapes and the potential for renewal within.

Words cannot express how grateful I am that Moses Akempta and I were able to have a simple conversation that sparked the creation of this documentary! The videography is stunning and the creation of a massive mural is now preserved for all to enjoy.
